The Welcome Back to Waymer Flyin was a  success. We had excellent weather, plenty of pilots and spectators, a great pot luck lunch, and a lot of fun. Hobby Town donated a new TT 2300 engine for the raffle

Here are the results of the club elections:

Vice President: Evan Doughty
Safety: Jim Galuska
Secretary: Larry Moore
Treasurer: Jim Galuska
At Large Board Members: Humpy Wheeler and Bob Bauer

The tables and other club property have been removed from the LMS flying site for safe keeping through the October racing season at LMS. The field should be back up some time in early November.

From Bob Bauer 7/7/8

At a meeting at Waymer Flying Field on July 1, 2008, with representatives of Parks & Rec, LUESA and the grading contractor, it was determined to replace the pebbles with highway material which will meet requirements for handicap access.  Since this is on an old landfill without a proper cap as now required, LUESA and the contractor were concerned about vehicular traffic out to the shelter.  They are concerned that potholes and or settling will develop from the weight of vehicles.

We were able to assure LUESA that the amount of traffic is very small - almost non existent during the week and very moderate on the weekends.  Additionally that it was absolutely necessary to have the ability to load and unload equipment at the shelter and circles.  With the concurrence of Parks & Rec and LUESA it was agreed that the pathway maybe used by our vehicles, but only for loading and unloading -  no parking.  Further that the condition of the pathway will be monitored and re-inspected in 6 months.  Therefore, if you see any deterioration  in the pathway due to settling or potholes, please do not use it and report it to me or Parks & Rec.

The Flying Aces Pilot Association is a Radio Controlled Aircraft Club located in the Charlotte North Carolina area. We are chartered through the Academy of Model Aeronautics. We are a self-supporting, non-profit organization whose purpose is to enjoy the fellowship of other R/C pilots and to promote model aviation as a hobby and recreation activity within our community. We are an organization open to anyone interested in model aviation. We work with local governments, zoning boards, and parks departments to promote interest in model aviation and to preserve the flying areas that we are using.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to visit us at our flying fields or at any flying activity that we may be attending. We offer experienced flight instruction, planned activities, the use of a club trainer aircraft, and above all else, people to talk to who enjoy the same hobby.

We fly at a private field located at the Lowe's motor speedway and a public field located at Waymer field in Huntersville.
